I got this on a “how bad can it be?” whim. Turns out that it does exactly what it says on both iphone and android. You have to download an app to get full function on android, but it’s simple. Updated firmware is a web search away. Not too shabby. It’s no galaxy gear 2, but then again it works with the three phone I tried. iPhone 5, kitkat version of a note 3 and a galaxy 4 all working as advertised.

The only weirdness is pairing up an iphone and suddenly having music come out of your wrist (simply set sound output back to phone or earpiece btw, but it scared the hell outta me the first time my phone rang)

The watch itself is metal and pretty good quality, but I replaced the admittedly low rent band. For the record, The U8 takes any 22mm flat end band. I had to measure it with calipers as this in not documented. Anywhere. You’re welcome.

Long story short, this is well worth the price. It’s no iwatch, no galaxy gear, but it’s also half the price and does a great job doing its thing. Nice!

    U8 Smart Watch In-Depth Review, June 4, 2014
This review is from: LEMFO Bluetooth Smart Watch WristWatch U8 UWatch Fit for Smartphones IOS Android Apple iphone 4/4S/5/5C/5S Android Samsung S2/S3/S4/Note 2/Note 3 HTC Sony Blackberry (Black) (Watch)
The Good: The touch screen was actually surprisingly responsive. The watch receives charge from a micro-USB port. It is pretty stylish and classy. There is a phonebook in the watch that connects to your phone (can display 1000 contacts). You can also dial phone numbers straight from the watch. When receiving a text message, you will feel a little vibration or ringtone. You are also able to view recent call logs. Music may be played out of the small speaker. There is a remote camera capture feature that allows you to control the camera on your phone to take pictures. You may choose from four different clock types for your home screen, there are two analog options and two digital options. An anti-lost feature makes the watch vibrate when it is too far away from your mobile device. The watch also features an altimeter, barometer, pedometer, and stopwatch. This watch surprisingly made good phone calls and the sound was crisp and clear. The battery was also better than I thought it was going to be. It lasted 3-days on a single charge with moderate use. This watch is sold for under $70. In other words, you can’t beat the price.

The Bad: This watch isn’t made out of metal, it is made out of some kind of hard plastic with a matte finish. The screen is not glass either; it is again, plastic. The Bluetooth pairing was extremely difficult. It took me a few days of consulting with an employee before I finally got it paired with my device. The strap itself feels cheap, that said it does its job. There is also some wasted space around the screen with a quarter-inch margin that could have instead been used to expand the screen without making the watch itself bigger. The watch is a little thick but not too bad. The colors on this watch aren’t as vibrant as in the pictures on Amazon.com. As I said before, you are able to play music from this watch but the speaker is not powerful enough to use this feature. To hear the music, even in a quiet room, I had to hold the watch up directly to my ear. You may not text back directly from the watch.

The Verdict: Although there are many small flaws to this watch, for under $70 this watch is a steal. Once you get past the difficult pairing stage, it is smooth sailing from there. The watch does everything that you need it to do and then some. The small setbacks like the plastic screen and frame is not enough to be a deal breaker.

If you pay more than $50 for this watch it’s probably not worth it. I snagged a deal on eBay and got it for $40 so I can’t complain. This is my work smart watch so I intended to buy something cheap that I don’t mind scratching up. Until I can afford the moto 360 this will be my go to watch. The watch works as advertised although quality wise it’s definitely cheap. The screen resolution could be better but for the price you can’t be picky. Luckily my U8 hasn’t tripped out on me or crashed so I haven’t experienced that problem yet. The few things I have noticed about this watch that is of minor annoyance is that when you turn it off and back on it doesn’t save my custom settings and it boots up with the default settings. It’s an odd issue that I’ve come across so now I just leave the settings stock. I’ve also noticed that the battery life indicator isn’t very accurate the watch has turned off on me with a low battery warning when the indicator shows I still have more than enough power left. With that said despite the battery indicator being faulty the watch itself has great battery life. My last and final gripe about this watch is the fact that you can’t change any of the weather or pedometer settings to USA standard settings. If you live in the USA and want to use those particular functions on the watch you won’t be able to. I’ve been using this watch for a while now and I can honestly say that I like it a lot due to its practicality. It makes calls and receives messages quite well and it works great as a Bluetooth handset. It controls your music and plays your phones sound through the watch speakers. This watch is really for someone on a budget who wants a smart watch that works well enough to serve its purpose. If you can get it at a bargain price I say go for it. If you have high expectations I would suggest skipping out on this watch. I’m content with what this watch brings to the table. It looks nice and presentable so I enjoy wearing it as often as I can. It has helped me out so much when I’m at work and I can’t have my phone out. I shop on eBay quite often and this watch helps me stay on top of my bids so I don’t miss out on an item. I also find it useful when I’m driving and I don’t want to risk getting a ticket for using my phone to make a call or read a text. For those of you who can’t seem to download the BTNotifier.apk app you have to search the ftp link that’s provided on the instruction book on your actual computer. Then you download the app and send it to your phone via email, Bluetooth, or whichever way works better for you. Install the app on your phone and you’re good to go.

Side note: You might want to buy a replacement wrist band for this watch. The one that comes with the watch is very cheap and gets dirty real fast. All the nasty sweat will build up on the wrist band and it’s very hard to clean. Replacing the wrist band on your watch should be a simple process. Buy yourself a high quality standard sized wrist watch band off eBay or Amazon. I think once you swap out the wrist band your watch will look even more stylish.
