    Nice phone – would definitely recommend!!, July 31, 2014

    Okay, first off I just want you to be aware that I received this product free to try out and for review. I received it Monday and after charging it I started using this phone. I have AT&T as my service and pulled my SIM card out from my old phone and put in this one along with the prepaid $10 SIM card they supplied me to use.

    1. Nice sized phone (roughly 3″x6″)
    2. Android OS
    3. Very intuitive features (at least for me)
    4. Comes with a lot of Apps already on phone
    5. Love the main screen widget “Power Control” with WLan/WHT (bluetooth)/GPS/Sync/Light and an Off button to turn all those functions off to save on battery if not needed.
    6. I bought a 32GB MicroSDHC card and loaded it almost full of MP3’s and also placed in phone – no problems playing music from it!!
    7. Synced up with my vehicles UConnect with no problem – and each time I get in the vehicle it asks if I want to connect – I really like that as my old phone automatically did it and sometimes I didn’t want to have the phone connected.
    8. Synced to an inexpensive blue tooth external speaker that works good with the product
    9. Battery life so far is about what I would expect from a Smartphone. I charged it again on day 3 of having it – with moderate to heavy texting use (depends on the person – I had outgoing texts of roughly 50+ and incoming around 250+) played a bit with a game that I downloaded, loading contacts and of course just messing around with the phone to see what it would do.
    10. Comes with screen protector, clear case, usb charging cord, usb wall charger (this item will be listed under cons), earphones and battery.
    11. Browsers seem to connect quickly and with no problem – I used my WiFi at home to try out these products.
    12. Comes with an FM radio – the earphones are the antenna so you will need to use them in conjunction with the radio option.

    1. USB Wall charger is cheap. It is already coming apart – but most people have a good USB wall charger and can use it instead. So… a con, but not a big one.
    2. Earphones supplied work – but I doubt they will last long. Nice touch adding them to the phone and it was appreciated – but just to make you aware they are inexpensive also.
    3. User’s Manual is practically useless – just as an example it states to only use compatible memory cards with this device – Incompatible cards may damage the card and/or device… but it doesn’t say what cards are compatible or not compatible.
    4. Never could get the phone and my computer to work together to load music that way – will continue to check into this – may be operator error! But loading the music directly onto the memory card then putting it in the phone worked like a dream.

    This phone has the same majority of items available as most Smart phones, Alarm, blue tooth, date, calendar, 5.0 camera, calculator, sound recorder, video player, browsers, GPS, etc…. All in all I consider this phone a very nice phone for a lot nicer price tag. If you want all the ‘bells and whistles’ of a Samsung Galaxy… you need to buy the Galaxy. If you’re willing to save yourself quite a few bucks and don’t mind some of the quirks of a lot less expensive phone and no additional contract time with your carrier – you really can’t go wrong.

    I will definitely update you with anything else I find out or come across as being interesting and/or a problem in the future as I have it for a longer period of time. I just wanted you to have something to go by regarding this phone to begin with. If you have any questions, or want me to check into something for this phone, please ask a question and when I can I will respond. I just wanted to post this review before I headed into work for the night!

    Excellent performance and a quality smart phone for under $100!, August 2, 2014

    I was asked to review this phone in the prototype stage for release by Sharkk. I have used cell phones since they were first released and for the past few years I have used Apple iPhones. I received this cell phone and I have to tell you that I am impressed by it. It is an ultra-high quality phone and the physical size of the phone is just like the Samsung S5. The phone and silicone case combined weighs in at 6.6 ounces.

    It arrives with a full set of accessories that includes:
    * The phone
    * Stereo earphones that are OK but not great quality.
    * A silicone case
    * An AC wall charger the will operate on 100 to 300 VAC and 50/60 Hz. Its output is 5 VDC at 1 Amp.
    * A 3.7 VDC 1800 mAh internal lithium battery that is replaceable.
    * A charging cable that is a USB to Micro USB cable that is 48 inches long * Two clear screen protectors for the phone. One is already installed and the second is ready for future use.

    To properly start up the phone you will need a micro SD card and I recommend a 32 GIG size with a speed of class 10. You will also need a SIM card and in my case I used an ATT on-the-go card to avoid a more expensive data plan. Each minute of a phone conversation costs 10 Cents and a text message costs 20 Cents for incoming or out going. Photo texts cost 25 Cents.

    The phone quickly and easily attached to my WIFI system and the speed was excellent for browsing and down loading items.

    This is a full featured smart phone with all the capabilities that you would expect from a smart phone costing 2 to 4 times as much. It can handle dual SIM cards and an internal Micro SD card for expandable memory. It will accept up to a 32 GIG Micro SD card size. I installed an ATT on the go SIM card and the phone instantly recognized it and set itself up to the ATT network.

    The screen is 5 inches in diagonal and has a resolution of 540 by 980 pixels. It also supports multi-touch. It is a capacitive touch sensitive screen. The unit has dual cameras with a rear camera of 5 MEGA pixels and the front camera is a VGA quality. You can take photos or videos with either camera. The rear camera has a built in flash and it can also be used as a flashlight in emergencies using the flashlight app.

    The phone has a nice built in speaker that actually sounds very good. It includes full vibration, an acceleration sensor, light sensor, and proximity sensors for your game playing. The phone is extremely fast and I downloaded a lot of games, apps and Kindle books to test the unit.

    I used AnTuTu benchmarking software to test the phone to get an independent but verifiable test other than just my personal opinion. This phone scored a benchmark of 17061 for the model X500A. The CPU was rated as good and able to support large apps and multitasking processes. The RAM was good and the 2 D graphics were rated general. The 3D graphics were rated good and the phone is capable to support most games. Its speed and quality is comparable to the Samsung Galaxy SIII.

    The phone uses Android operating system 4.2.2 (JellyBean) and it has a quad core CPU operating at 1.3 GHz. The CPU has the ability to sleep unneeded cores and adjust the CPU clock rate to conserve battery power. It offers Bluetooth capability and I tested that feature by connecting to several sets of Bluetooth speakers. The onboard speaker of the phone is not bad at all.

    The unit comes with RAM storage of 1 GIG and a ROM storage of 4 GIG. I installed an 8 GIG SanDisk Micro SD card for my testing. I recommend a 32 GIG class 10 card. Removing the back of the phone to insert the memory, SIM card and battery was not easy but take your time and you will be fine. I show some details in my video.

    This phone is fast and powerful. I down loaded over 100 Apps from Amazon using the Amazon Appstore. I also downloaded many books using the Amazon Kindle App and I played songs using the Amazon Music Prime.

    Nice features:
    * Built-in GPS
    * Bluetooth
    * Usable as a hot spot if you contract for a data plan with a wireless phone carrier.
    * Fast WIFI connection – I was able to download 17.51Mbps and upload 1.96 Mbps on an 18 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload network connection.
    * Built in FM radio with excellent reception. You have to use the earplugs as the act as an antenna for the radio.
    * The phone supports video calls.
    * An easy set up for email
    * The ability to allow you to use both the Amazon App Store and the Google Play Store gives you a lot of access for apps and games.
    * The ability to lock the phone using a password * Plays and records videos * Ability to read Kindle eBooks * Built in alarm clock * Calculator

    * Bluetooth is called WHT in the setup menu – this will be fixed according to Sharkk.
    * The instruction manual was not very…

    Don’t let the $99.99 price tag fool you!, August 1, 2014

    This review is from: SHARKK® Android Smartphone 4G Unlocked GSM Phone 5″ Display Dual SIM Quad Core Cell powered by POSH (Wireless Phone Accessory)

    Smart phones are very popular, but not everyone has six hundred dollars to spend on them, which is why manufacturers like SHARKK are making the SHARKK powered Posh X500A.

    ▶ Package Contents
    * POSH X500A
    * Clear case
    * Micro USB Cable
    * Power Adapter
    * Earphones
    * Battery
    * Screen Protector
    * User manual

    ▶ Accessories
    The accessories for this product includes: a clear case, a micro USB cable, a power adapter, earphones, and a screen protector. The clear plastic docile case appropriately has cuts around the camera/flash, speaker, micro USB interface, and 3.5mm audio port, but not the power or volume buttons, which makes usage very awkward getting little to no feedback. The case was initially very difficult to put on, so much so, I couldn’t appropriately apply it until today, but I guess being in the box allowed the case to expand. The case looks very weird because you could see the air pockets on the back.

    I like that this product uses the micro USB interface and includes a 1A power adapter, because charging with your computer’s USB ports won’t efficiently charge this product, where a power adapter would. The micro USB interface is the most common interface used by electronics today, which means the cable is cheap and easily accessible.

    At first I didn’t understand the purpose of including earphones, but realized the FM radio uses the earphones wires as antennae. I don’t particularly like these headphones, as they are white and look cheaply made, but any headphones are suitable for the FM radio.

    ▶ Software
    This product is based on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), which is Google’s Android Operating System. I’ve always been a fan of Android, as it is one of the most functional operating systems today. You could download a lot of content, including: music, books, news, movies, games, and any app you desire, pending your storage space. Android’s OS is my preferred choice, because of the wide variety of apps in its ecosystem, but I wish the phone had root access. Rooting is the process of getting the most out of your phone, because some apps require additional permissions, however, this is only useful for advanced users, which shouldn’t apply to most people.

    Although Android is a great OS, manufacturers tend to add their own stuff, and Posh wasn’t an exception. The launcher may be stock, but they added the following apps: AccuWeather, Sim ToolKit, Flashlight, Maxthon Browser, MxPlayer, Opera Mini, Posh APPS, and SignalClock. What confused me was Posh’s attempt to reskin the Google Play store with several “free”(In-app purchases) games. In any case, this is probably the most stock Android you could get without buying a Google Play edition or Nexus phone.

    ▶ Hardware
    This is a mid range phone that doesn’t have the mid range price (currently $99.99), compared to my LG Optimus F6 ($150 via T-Mobile), or Moto G ($229), two phones that have very similar specs.

    * CPU & GPU
    This uses a 1.3Ghz Quad Core Mediatek CPU, and Mali 400MP GPU, which are basically the cheapest CPUs and GPUs manufacturers could buy, but any cheap quad core CPU is better than the 1.2Ghz dual core CPU in my Optimus F6. This CPU and GPU combo will allow your phone a very fluid experience. You shouldn’t experience any lag, which makes multitasking easy.

    * Display
    As stated in specifications, this uses a 5″ inch, 540 x 980, 240 dpi screen. This isn’t quite an HD screen, but it is a large screen with a decent amount of density per square inch. You could easily watch any movie without many issues.

    * Camera
    The specifications on the phone state that the rear camera is 5MP, but it is instead 8MP, which makes camera shots very clear. The front camera has a 1.9MP camera, which isn’t great, but it is acceptable for taking selfies.

    * Battery
    The 1800mAh battery is about the average battery size for smart phones. With a 5″ screen, this drains the battery faster than my smaller 4.5″ screen on my Optimus F6, but this is an acceptable size for a phone. I would recommend having a…
